De-matting Policy
Mats are little knots and tangles in your pup’s fur that can pull on the skin and make them uncomfortable. To keep grooming stress-free, we only do gentle dematting on the face and tail. We can carefully brush out up to 10 small mats (each smaller than a quarter) within 30 minutes.
If there are more than 10 mats or the coat is too tangled, we’ll go with a shorter, more comfortable haircut — always putting your dog’s safety and happiness first.
If you’d like to keep your pup’s coat long and fluffy, the best way to prevent mats is with regular grooming appointments, depending on the length and texture of the coat. Consistent visits will keep their fur healthy, soft, and tangle-free!
A Note for Double-Coated Dogs
Breeds like Pomeranians, Huskies, Malamutes, Chow Chows, Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, and others have a special double coat that protects their skin and helps regulate temperature. For this reason, shaving or cutting their coat is generally not recommended, as it may affect regrowth and skin health.
If you decide to go ahead with a haircut, I’ll be happy to help, but please know that the owner accepts responsibility for any potential changes to the coat or skin.
Grooming Time Estimates
Grooming times differ based on breed and coat type, usually taking about 2 to 4 hours for a thorough and comfortable grooming session.
Health and Wellbeing Policy
We want every pup to feel safe and comfortable during grooming. If your dog isn’t feeling well, has heavy matting, or shows signs of stress, we may pause the appointment and happily reschedule once your pet is ready.
